ABOUT CU GREEN^®

Launched as a partnership with top economic development leaders and two founding credit unions, we’re CU Green^®. We’re the clean energy lending platform of the Minnesota Credit Union Network.

We’re here to make clean energy more accessible to more Minnesotans, and to help speed up renewable energy projects. We do it with educational resources, loans and investment options.

And you’re eligible for these if you’re a member (or if you become one) at any of Minnesota’s participating credit unions.

Minnesota credit unions partnered with the University of Minnesota Institute on the Environment to move both consumers and credit unions towards a cleaner and more efficient energy footprint.

In 2016, leaders from Affinity Plus, Hiway, and First Alliance engaged with the University of Minnesota’s Climate Smart Municipalities exchange. Inspired by innovative programs and practices in Germany, these leaders committed to expanding clean energy progress in Minnesota.

Through the Clean Energy Initiative, the Minnesota Credit Union Network and the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation collaborated to secure a grant from the Caroline Foundation. This grant helped to fund the development of CU-Green.org.

Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing powered by CU Green^®
A partnership with the St. Paul Port Authority, its goal is to make at least $10 million of affordable financing available for Minnesota businesses and property owners. These loans are intended to upgrade energy efficiency, which includes onsite renewable energy technologies and solar power systems.
